In spring of 2011, Congregation Sha’arei Torah/The Village Shul(CST) was born. Founded in response to community members interested in the development of a vibrant, participant-driven Modern Orthodox synagogue in Amberley Village, CST quickly became a cornerstone of the Cincinnati Jewish community. We carefully chose our name Sha’arei Torah “Gates of Torah,” in the plural form, to reflect one of our core beliefs. We all strive to follow the same Torah and are committed to halakhic observance. At the same time, we recognize that a life of Torah can be reached through many paths.

Indeed, within weeks of its founding, CST found itself with dozens of member families and countless volunteer leaders. Since that time, we have only continued to grow and expand. In August 2013, we were delighted to welcome Rabbi Ezra Goldschmiedt, a dynamic young leader as our rabbi. Rabbi Goldschmiedt and his wife Elyssa embody our philosophy of creating a welcoming experience for Jews from diverse backgrounds who desire to grow in their Judaism. And grow we did. In a very short period of time we attracted many new members thereby necessitating the need to build our permanent home.

With the help of many generous members and friends, Sha’arei Torah purchased a 6.4 acre site at in the heart of Amberley Village. The acreage is both picturesque and centrally located close to most of our members’ homes. Indeed, the site boasts mature trees, water features, and rolling hills. Our new sanctuary is now complete and we celebrated Rosh Hashanah 2014 in our new shul.

We are proud of our short history and what we have accomplished, but we are more excited about our future.

Sha’arei Torah welcomes you to join us.
